How to manually upgrade to Genshin Impact 2.8 on PC, Android and iOS

Guides

Here’s how to manually update the Genshin Impact client to version 2.8 on PC, Android, iOS.

Manual update of Genshin Impact 2.8 is convenient for two reasons. Firstly, with its help you can download update files at high speed, because on the release of the patch the official servers sometimes do not hold out. Secondly, manual update allows you to pre-install the patch even before its release – so you can play from the first minutes of running the update. Now we will tell you how to manually update Genshin Impact to version 2.8 on PC, Android and iOS.

How to manually update to Genshin Impact 2.8 on PC

Let’s start by describing the most complicated, not always safe, but still a method many users like. In it we will download the files by ourselves. The method will work after the update is officially released. So, let’s go:

  • Start the Genshin Impact launcher.
  • Click”Refresh” and after a few seconds click”Pause”.
  • Go to the”Genshin Impact Game” folder – by default it is located at”C:Program FilesGenshin Impact” – if you changed the address when you first installed the game, look for it.
  • In this folder delete all zip_tmp files.
  • Download update files (they appear on the net right after the release, they are uploaded by hundreds of users), you need at least two archives – general with patch and sound one in English.
  • Transfer the files to the Genshin Impact Game folder.
  • Open the launcher again and click”Update”.

The program will automatically detect the archives and unpack them. After this the update will be installed.

There is an easier way – go to the launcher a few days or hours before the update and click next to the start button on the preset update. That way you download all the files you need, and when the update comes out, you can play right away.

There are two ways to pre-install the update in the mobile version of the game:

  • Go to the Paimon menu, press”Settings”, then”Others” and in the section that opens at the very bottom, select the preset patch.
  • On the boot screen, in the login box, click”Preset Resource Pack”.

That’s it, nothing complicated!
